Live My Lief
Steve Roggenbuck is an American poet who has recently been travelling around America doing readings and encouraging everyone else via blogging and vlogging to get up and do what they want to do. Internet poetry has seen a trend of writers such as Roggenbuck bringing poetry not down, but to a place far more accessible to a wider audience of people. The impression a lot of people have about poetry is that it is incomprehensible and not worth their time. If somebody can show readers who would otherwise avoid poetry that it can be read, then ‘Crunk Juice’ can only be a good thing.
Check out his latest work Crunk Juice and an SAL review of it here or just browse his personal Tumblr.

Thought Catalog
It’s hard to reduce the thoughts running through your head into a solid, discernible message on any given day, let alone, throughout your lifetime. With that being said, I will not attempt to sum up the Thought Catalog of many brilliant, hip, radically inclined writers, thinkers, and cultural deviants. There is so much material on here; all “No Brow”, all flexing their ability to stand out, all willing to be in your face or your head or your heart. It will put you in the seat opposite an intellectual at a café, who is talking about something you realize is important, but wish you had the text to read in order to grasp it all. Judith Ann Braun's Symmetrical Procedures
When most people work with a medium like charcoal they absolutely despise how the dust gets all over one's hands and fingers inevitably to end up on the work. For Judith Braun, however, charcoal dust on the finger tips is her medium of choice. As a New York based artist she creates wonderful works of intricacy by applying charcoal dust to a surface using only her bare hands. She believes that the human body has a natural symmetry and by utilizing her hands in a specific way she can let that symmetry dictate a gestural vocabulary of mark making. Check it Out!

-
Editors Note: While this site seems cool in theory, the accent detection software doesn't seem to like voices from outside the United States. I played around with it for a bit and got NO hits from even the simplest songs.

Krochet Kids International
We recently discovered Krochet Kids International through a commercial featuring some pretty cool looking guys and an interesting message, but once we saw their website we were hooked. By teaching women in Uganda (and soon Peru) how to crochet and make products everyone can enjoy, they've created a way for people with little to no means to empower and support themselves.
Mutatoes
Ok, you're probably thinking, "What on earth are Mutatoes?" Photographer Uli Westphal defines them as "non-standard fruits, roots, and vegetables," which he's diligently photographed for quite some time now. His Mutatoproject sheds light on food that, though completely natural, is shunned by today's industrial food system and happens to look really, really cool when photographed and lined up on a stark white background.
Patch
Patch is a great new source for finding what's happening near you.
StumbleUpon
“Stumbling” is quickly becoming one of the most used ways of finding new material on the net. For those of you who haven’t used it, put down information about the sort of things you would like to see (categories include anything from rugby to literature) then just click a button and you're given a site that has been “liked” by people who searched under the same terms you did. You then have the option to give the site a thumbs-up or thumbs-down before going to the next one. Simply put, genius!
Time LightBox
From the photo editors of Time, LightBox combines the best photography and video from all over the world in true Time-fashion. We especially like how you can view images by category, such as Close-Up and In Progress.
Zoo Borns
Before you condemn us for putting on a site of cute animals, take a closer look at Zoo Borns. These may be impossibly cute animals (and we mean the kind girls involuntarily go "awww" over), but they are also captured in stunning photographs that help spread the message of conservation. We say that's pretty "aww" worthy.

Trans-Americas Journey
The Trans-Americas Journey is not just another road trip. Freelance travel writer Karen Catchpole and photographer Eric Mohl left New York City in 2006 and jumped into a very big truck to begin exploring, photographing and writing their way through the 23 countries in North, Central and South America. Travel photography, take-you-there destination reports, insider travel tips you can really use and a constant quest to understand The Americas and help you do the same. They’re putting the “travel” back into travel journalism.

Wordboner.com seems to say it the best, "typo+quotography with personality." What that actually is something you have to see to understand, but trust us, it's worth it. Not to mention you can put your favorite designed quote on a t-shirt.

California is a Place
California Is a Place is one of our favorite websites at the moment and we're proud to be able to show their work off on Student at Large. Their collection of amazingly shot videos and beautiful photos are first rate and show the multiple faces of one of America's most interesting and diverse states. It's difficult to do them justice so we've included their spiel below so you can hear it from the horses mouth...
California is loaded. From Disneyland to farmland, we’ve got Scientology and superstars, Silicon and silicone, crips and bloods. The border. Krumpin’ Clownin’ Jerkin’. The surf and the turf. The boom and the bust. California is humanity run amok and then packaged, branded and sold. California Cuisine, California Love, California Casual, California Gold, California Girls, and of course, California Dreams. If it exists in the world, it exists here and it does so with pizzaz.
Obviously, we love this stuff. That’s why we’re doing this project. Simply put, California is sensational. And the closer we look the better it gets: words and images, stories and songs, opinions and ideas. This project is ongoing. We hope you like what you see and say so. We plan to post often. So until that day, when we finally float off into the Pacific, California is a place.

Sporcle
One of our favorite sites for both entertainment and learning, Sporcle has a HUGE number of great online quizzes that make it the best, if most random, leaning site we've seen so far. From naming the 100 most read books in the U.S., to every member of the U.K. Royal family, Sporcle is a must for boring afternoons.
Texts From Last Night
Funny, rude, irreverent, madcap, often disturbing: Not much more can be said about TFLN, which offers people the chance to post their best texts online. Worrying perhaps, but certainly one of the best sites we've come across in the past few years.
